Frequently Asked Questions

Who is eligible for YMCA-YMCA Financial Assistance?
Any individual, family or child who is unable to pay the full membership or program fee due to their financial circumstance.

How does the Y determine how much I pay?
The amount of assistance depends on your total household income and the number of people in your family.

Is it possible to join the Y for free?
The YMCA-YWCA believes strongly in the value of self-sufficiency. We believe the Y experience has more value if you pay a portion of the monthly fee, no matter how small.

If I receive support through the Y Financial Assistance, what is expected of me?
You are expected to complete your payments and to use your membership regularly.

How do I pay for my Membership or Programs?

You will pay for your first month when you join, followed by payments made in person each month on or before your monthly payment date. Memberships made possible through Financial Assistance are approved for 12 months. It is necessary to reapply with another interview to renew your FA membership or if you let your membership lapse for more than one month.

To find out if you qualify for financial assistance, please complete an application and contact
your local YMCA-YWCA to arrange for a private, confidential interview. We encourage you to take a tour of our facility and learn about our services and programs prior to applying.
