Swim Lessons
YMCA-YWCA of the Central Okanagan offers swimming lessons for all ages and abilities. Taught by experienced, certified instructors, we help people to feel comfortable and safe in the water. From babies to seniors and every age in between, the Y is committed to help people strengthen their swimming skills.
Parent and Tot 6 - 36 mos
Splashers and Bubblers classes will help you and your child to learn through fun water play together. Our instructors will orient your child to the water, explore buoyancy, movement and build confidence in a safe environment.
Preschool Level 3 - 5 yrs
(Bobber, Floaters, Gliders, Divers, Surfers and Dippers)
Our swimming lessons deliver fun and challenges with no more than five children per class. As you child progresses through the levels they will go from kicking their feet to swimming 25 meters on their front and back.
Learn to Swim 6+ yrs
(Otter, Seal, Dolphin and Swimmer)
As your child moves through our four Learn to Swim levels they will progress from feeling comfortable in the shallow end to performing strokes and floats to swimming front and back crawl. Our instructors incorporate fun, play, exploration, practice to build on your child’s successes.
Star Level 6+ yrs
In addition to learning new strokes your child will work towards perfecting their front and back strokes while building endurance. As your child progresses, through the six Star levels they will be introduced to a wide variety of water activities including synchronized swimming, lifesaving, water polo and competitive swimming.
Children’s Masters 6+ yrs
Swimmers will improve and refine strokes and build endurance to over 700 meters. This program also builds leadership skills that will help your child transition into advanced aquatics, such as lifeguarding.
Scuba Stars 6 - 12 yrs
Take your first breath underwater with Serpent Aquatics in this fun filled two-dive programs. Participant use a SCUBA system that allows them to float safely on the surface while viewing the environment below. Play games and learn foundation skills for the safe use of SCUBA. Equipment supplied.
Adult Beginner
Ideal for beginning swimmers who are nervous or scared in/near the water. Try new challenges and improve your skills. Please feel free to stay and practice after your lesson.
Adult Intermediate
For the swimmer who is comfortable in the water both floating and gliding on their front and back. Work towards learning the front and back crawl and breast stroke.
55 Plus Beginner
It is never too late to learn a new skill or get over the fear of water. Swimming is a fantastic form of exercise for all abilities.
55 Plus Intermediate
